Magnificent Chinese earrings from the Arts & Crafts (ca1900s) era! These beautiful silver gilt earrings are round in shape with a domed surface that holds an incredibly ornate design. Hanging from a simple sterling silver wire, each piece features seven stones: four jade cabochons, with one at the center, and three sapphires, all resting in an alternating pattern. The bezel-set stones vary slightly in shape, exhibiting wonderful, natural green and blue shades. Surrounding the stones are polished beadwork accents that emerge from a darkened spun silver design, creating an alluring two-tone appeal. Finishing the look is swirled wirework on the back of each piece, making these earrings appealing from every angle! When worn, they frame the face beautifully, hanging just below the ear. They would make a unique addition to any vintage jewelry collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 1" long (including the wire at the top), measures about 3/4" in diameter, and are a little more than 3/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gilded silver setting, or sterling silver wires. The sapphire and jade stones are intact and securely set. One of the sapphires appears to be a replacement stone, however, it is not noticeable when worn and blends in beautifully with the other stones. The earrings wires are secure and in good working order. There is a natural darkened patina on the surface of each earring, which is common given the age and adds to its beauty and character.
