A beautiful carnelian necklace from the Arts & Crafts era (ca1920)! This decorative piece is made of sterling gilt and is comprised of carnelian beads and teardrop links that form an elegant festoon necklace. Strands of fine chain are draped in between each hanging teardrop link, and swirled filigree spacers alternate with the smooth, round beads at the top. All of the carnelian stones have gorgeous coloring, which rich shades of vibrant orange banded with translucent stripes and golden yellow. At the back of the necklace are two fine strands of chain that meet at barrel shaped push clasp. This naturally beautiful necklace drapes elegantly along the neckline when worn, and is a wonderful example of Arts & Crafts era jewelry!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 18" long. Each carnelian teardrop link measures approximately 7/8" long. The carnelian beads measure approximately 9mm in size.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling gilt setting. All of the carnelian beads and links are intact. The barrel push clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition. There is a chip on one of the carnelian teardrop links, which is on the back of the link and therefore not noticeable when worn.
